Poker is a card game that is played with a group of people around a table. The players sit at an oval or circular table, and each player receives a card from the shuffled deck. The player who receives the highest card is the initial dealer. If the initial dealer has a tie, the player clockwise from them cuts the deck and moves on to the next step of play.
In Poker, players make bets based on their hands. If they hold two or more pairs of the same rank, the higher pair wins. However, in some cases, the higher card breaks ties. Similarly, if two players hold the same kind of high card, the high card wins. Moreover, if no one has a pair of the same suit, the high card wins.
Players in Poker place bets at regular intervals. In some variations, the first bet is the responsibility and privilege of one player. For every round of betting, each player must place chips into the pot equivalent to the total amount of chips put in by all the players before him. This is called an active player. If the first player makes a bet, he becomes the dealer.
In the post-flop portion of a hand, the best hand is known as a “nuts”. This hand consists of a pair of sevens or two pairs. The turn card is a five, and the river card is a seven. A winning hand wins the entire pot.
